Malaysian teh ais, an addictive refreshing break available on every street (well, almost)
Malaysia is famous for its teh tarik - a long pulled version of hindustani chai without spices. Usually with excessive volume of sugar and milk in a blend with black tea. This iced version of teh tarik - teh ais, is completelly refreshing. If you're a regular to some of the many makan shops (small street corner restaurants) the staff proudly remembers how you like your drink (mine is 1/2 sugar, less milk and strong tea) which brings the experience to the "next level".
This drink drives the domesting demand for the local black teas from Cameron Highlands or Sabah (my favorite is BOH).
Let me assure those worried about the quality of ice in tropical countries that Malaysia is very safe in that regard so don't allow your fear prevent you from trying this delicious cup of iced tea.
