Coffee/Tea shop in Phnom Penh, Cambodia
Among the extraordinary cullinary experiences one can make in Indochina is the traditional Vietnamese/Khmer/Lao Coffee made of a thick concentrate which is a product of very slow steeping or brewing (or whatever it is called when you make coffee), sometimes entailing a "cascade-like" two or three "storey" infussion. It is usually served 1:1 with condensed sweet milk and ice. FANTASTIC!
In Phnom Penh my favorite shop lies right at the back of the Phnom Penh main Post Office. A tea enthusiast can also get a pot of chinese jasmine tea there for a "soft landing" after having finisted a delicious kick-ass cup of coffee.
As the picture shows, there is a bit of brutality involved in making the jasmine tea...
There are many ways to approach tea and this one literally belongs in the crudest bucket.
But don't get discouraged, the result is not too bad.
Cambodia is a very small scale tea producer but local shops usually offer Vietnamese or Chinese teas.
